FAQ
Need help understanding what our notation means? You’ve come to the right place. This glossary will give you the official low-down on the lingo:
With others, My updates, Other activity, @ username, re: update, Following, Follower, Mutual follower, Conversation, Poke, Message
With others
This tab shows you everything: your updates, as well as updates from all the people you are following. Pictures, videos, music, text replies – you name it, it’s here. top
My updates
This tab all updates from a particular person, namely you. Note: If you’re on someone else’s homepage, this tab appears as “Updates” and displays only their updates. top
Other activity
Your friend follows someone or favorites a picture, and you’ll know about it. All sorts of notifications appear here, but don’t worry: you can control what you see. top
@ username
@ directs a reply to a specific person. Clicking the reply icon (the upward arrow) will automatically begin your reply with @ username

Example: @ MS1983, where did you take this picture?
top
re: update
re: means “in reply to.” You reply to an update, and then what happens? Your reply will appear in the “With others” and “My updates” tabs. The re: precedes the update, so you know it’s a reply. top
Following
These are people that you follow. You will be able to see whenever they post a message or add a file. top
Follower
These are people who follow you. They want to know when you update, so every time you add a file to your page, they will be able to see it on their “With others” tab. top
Mutual follower
They follow you, and you follow them. You must be mutual followers to view posts and media added to protected accounts. top
Conversation
Click on the icon that looks like two blue speech bubbles, and you’ll open up a conversation. This will show you all of the public exchanges between two people. top
Poke
If your friends haven’t updated for a while, you can poke them. Poking them will send them an email reminder letting them know that you’re waiting to hear from them. top
Message
Want to say something, but you don’t want everyone to see? You can send private messages to your friends so they’ll be the only ones to see it. Note: Messages can only be sent to people you are following. top
